Our Kindergarten program implements an emergent and pedagogical curriculum that is centered on learning opportunities and teachable moments initiated by the children. Activities and projects are planned by educators to match the skills, interests and unique needs of the specific children they are working with. The trained ECEs use observation as the children play, determine their areas of interest, then develop a plan or curriculum to direct their learning which reflects these interests. Webbing is one of the key tools in the program planning process that lets children and educators explore, answer questions and guide learning in a way that unfolds over time.
Nature Based Play & Learning is encorporated into the curriculum. Children spend much time outside exploring and discovering the world around them. The Kindergarten program regularly participates in hands-on nature-based activities that inspire inquiry, imagination and enthusiasm. We provide nature experiences such as International Mud Day and the “Two Weeks Outside” challenge. Many memorable experiences are created while using the natural playscape area at the front of the school.
